If your vehicle is having transmission problems, this article is for you. It often can cost as much as $5,000, and even more!
Check in at RM Automotive BEFORE you go anywhere else, here’s why…
Some companies in the San Fernando Valley area are not experts when it comes to transmissions. We are. How does this impact you? Well, there is a long list of NON-MAJOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS that seem like a bad transmission. This means some companies may wrongly diagnose the problems you are experiencing as a transmission. This could cost you $1,000’s needlessly.
For example, here are some items that could be giving you transmission problems that don’t mean a new transmission: Low fluid, or a fluid leak; loose vacuum lines; loose or out of adjustment linkages or cables; a bad solenoid; vehicle computer problem; defective sensors; or bad fluids.
Most of these problems can seem like a bad transmission. But they are relative inexpensive to repair.

This low-cost transmission fluid service may save you several thousand dollars!
Your automatic transmission’s friend is the transmission fluid. The fluid lubricates all of the myriad moving parts found throughout the transmission. However, with use and age, your transmission fluid breaks down and become ineffective. This can happen sooner than many people know.
The result of bad fluid is friction. Friction inside moving metal parts shaves that metal. Those shavings cause more friction as they are floated around the transmission in the fluid. If this process is not stopped in time, it can break components inside the transmission and cause you to need a new transmission.
Fortunately, there is a very affordable service that can help prevent this. The service, when done right, can be much less than $200 and only needs to be done every couple years or so.
The transmission fluid flush is a process that forces out the old fluids, cleans out any metal shavings, and replenishes the fluid with fresh effective fluids. However, it is important to note, NOT ALL TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSHES ARE THE SAME!
Why Our Transmission Service Works Better
Many companies simply drain out the old fluid from your transmission and fill it back up with new fluid. We believe this is better than nothing, but it is not the best practice for such an important and expensive component in your vehicle.
We understand that just a drain and fill may leave as much as 40% of the fluids inside the transmission. This is not acceptable to us. So, we use specialized equipment and chemicals to power-flush out the old fluids COMPLETELY. We then run a detergent/conditioner through your transmission before we refill your transmission with fresh fluid. We also will drop the pan and clean the screen if that is needed or an option on your vehicle.
The fluids and parts we use to provide this service are the best for your particular car. Some companies think there are only a couple different types of transmission fluids still. This is old information. Today, there are many different types of transmission fluids. We use the type that is recommended by the manufacturer of your car and by industry experts.
